Contrary to the Headlines: There Will Be No Retreat from the Anti-War Movement on Iraq

April 8, 2008 / Add comment

Andrews, director of anti-war coalition Win Without War, passionately disputes claims by Politico suggesting that those opposed to the Iraq War are planning to call off the battle. He argues that, contrary to a recent headline, the anti-war movement is actually at its strongest, with more than two-thirds of Americans objecting to the war. Andrews' group, as well as MoveOn.org, intend to make the most of the opportunity provided by an election year to drill their point home. The author dismisses rumors of easing off as efforts by President Bush to mislead the public, and stresses -- in all caps, no less -- that "retreat is not an option."
